ABOUT US

A man with gray hair, wearing a gray sweater and a blue checkered shirt, is talking and gesturing with his hands in front of a large map of Belhaven Town Center.

David Turner is a Mississippi-based builder, developer, and architectural designer focused on placemaking — shaping neighborhoods, homes, and gathering spaces that feel rooted, enduring, and human-scaled.

He began his career renovating older structures under the name Sustainable Construction, but quickly moved into new custom home construction and neighborhood-scale development. Early on, he recognized that great projects aren’t just about the building itself — they’re about how a structure settles onto the land, how streets connect, and how people experience space over time.

His first development in 2007, Fondren Green in Jackson, MS, became a defining milestone. As one of Jackson’s earliest New Urbanism-inspired infill communities, Fondren Green allowed David to design and build many of the homes within a cohesive urban framework. It was the first time his architectural design and development strategy fully converged to create not just houses, but a neighborhood.

Since then, David has designed and built numerous custom homes across Mississippi and contributed to developments including Lost Rabbit in Madison and The Lamar in Oxford. His work consistently blends classical proportion, site awareness, and long-term durability.

In 2010, David began envisioning what would become Belhaven Town Center, an adaptive reuse and mixed-use redevelopment in Jackson. That vision came to life in 2018 with the opening of its first restaurants. Serving as Director of Construction and Development and Creative Director, David continues to guide its evolution into a vibrant social and economic hub — a modern example of placemaking in action.

David and his wife, Amy, live in Jackson, Mississippi, with their three children. Outside of work, he spends his time cycling, fly-fishing, and drawing his family into new adventures whenever possible.
